Stand-alone organ donation facility more efficient than hospital

A study led by M.B. Majella Doyle, MD (right), a Washington University lung transplant surgeon, and William C. Chapman, MD, surgical director of the university’s transplant center, shows that retrieving donor organs at a stand-alone facility is more efficient and less costly than in a hospital.

Earth and moon’s origins are topic of 2014 McDonnell Distinguished Lecture

The McDonnell Distinguished Lecture this year will describe current understanding of the solar system’s formation. The part of the story we have not nailed down, says speaker Alex N. Halliday, PhD, of Oxford University, is the origin of Earth’s moon. The lecture is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in Whitaker Hall, Room 100.

Kandel Assembly Series address postponed

Eric Kandel was set to give an Assembly Series address at 5 p.m. today (March 3). The talk has been postponed due to weather. Plans are to reschedule at a later date.

WUSTL to test emergency sirens today, tomorrow

WUSTL will test its emergency siren systems at 11 a.m. today and again at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4. The tests will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather or some other emergency at those times.
